Thanks to a number of engine tweaks and design modifications, the 2013 Ram 1500 boasts an impressive EPA-estimated fuel economy of 18 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway. Thankfully, the Ram’s newfound fuel efficiency doesn’t come at the cost of performance or capability. In fact, the available 395-horsepower HEMI V8 engine can tow up to 10,450 pounds while still achieving a respectable fuel economy of 20 mpg highway.
For 2013, the new Ram 1500 is significantly more aerodynamic. Active Grille Shutters close when you are traveling on the highway to reduce aerodynamic drag and improve your fuel economy and open when the engine needs to be cooled. Other aerodynamic features include a tubular sidestep and a lower air dam to reduce the vehicle’s drag coefficient without negatively affecting the truck’s muscular style.
The vehicle information center that is housed behind the Ram 1500’s steering wheel gives the driver more information about the truck’s current stats via a beautiful 7-inch display. The new Ram 1500 pickup also gets improved fabrics and materials throughout the entire cabin. The carefully stitched seats are also more supportive than those in the outgoing model.
